Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Responsibilities:
Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work. Position requires assisting all jobs on the plant floor.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Graduate or GED
Be passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend.
Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Able to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours.
Assist operator with setup of machine & learn how to operate machine.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.
Thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pay and Benefit:
Hourly pay rate for an Associate Level 2 Assistant Operator is $21.80.
