Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. TITLE: Machine Operator
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
BASED AT: Harken, Inc. / SMC, Ferndale, WA
STATUS: Full Time, 1st shift, Non-Exempt
WAGE: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Operate a variety of machines including: drills, Mills, CNC’s, punch presses
· Maintain quality and safety standards
· Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to use standard office equipment
· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher
· Ability to add, sub-tract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, feel or handle objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must be able to walk or stand on concrete for up to 4 hours at a time
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to focus
