JOB TITLE: Packaging & Warehouse Operator 1

DEPARTMENT: Production

LOCATION: Hopewell, Virginia (North Plant)

SUPERVISOR: Head of Production

JOB SUMMARY

Packages solid and liquid finished product and intermediates into proper packaging. Performs warehouse functions such as: Order picking, Putaways, Order prep, and shipping/receiving. Must follow ISO procedures in all phases of North Plant operations. Maintains plant housekeeping standards. Performs SAP functions within the IM module. Knowledge of IATA, IMDG and 49 CFR hazardous regulations for shipment of materials. Practices company safety standards always.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Packaging flaked products into 50 and 55 lb. bags, and 1200 lb. supersacks
• Stacking and palletizing bags
• Packaging liquid products into 55-gallon drums and 1000 kg. totes
• Operate forklift truck
• Completing daily flaking production log, inventory removals and inventory introductions
• Maintaining used drum inventory and preparing used drums for disposal
• Banding and palletizing new drums for packaging orders
• Daily housekeeping of flaking area, drumming station and warehouse areas
• General plant housekeeping
• Assisting other operations personnel
• Grouping orders in SAP assuring orders are picked on time to meet shipping requirements
• Process staging in SAP each day assuring raw material for plant is pulled and delivered. All finished goods must be located in bins each day.
• Prepare customer orders for shipment assuring customer specifications are followed and including change labels
• Perform a second audit with each order
• Print labels or missing documentation in SAP
• Load trucks when required
• Receive all inbound freight in SAP against open purchase orders
• Perform daily checks in SAP, correcting errors assuring the inventory integrity in the North Plant is maintained
• Perform a third audit before loading truck and process Post Goods Issue in SAP. Process Daily SAP report for verification that all outbound orders ship on time.
• Counting and reconciling inventory
• All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

Minimum Education Requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification: Forklift Certification preferred. Must be able to operate forklift truck and be capable of passing certification testing.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum Years of Experience: One year of relevant work experience in a chemical plant.
• Vocational training or job-related course work preferred

KNOWLEDGE/SPECIALIZED SKILLS

• Ability to understand and operate a distributed process control system, personal computer, and associated software systems
• Ability to demonstrate basic math skills
• Ability to manage time and determine priorities to meet daily plant requirements
• Ability to understand and carry out routine verbal and written instructions
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees

• Physical mobility and agility required.
• Requires adequate physical strength to perform the essential job tasks (for example, ability to lift 55 lbs. without mechanical assistance and maneuver 110 pounds).
• Exposure to prolonged physical activity.
• Sensory faculties needed to safely perform the job duties that allow a person to react to potential or immediate hazardous conditions and to take appropriate action.
• Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respiratory protection, safety harness, and full protection suit as well as common protective or safety equipment including, but not limited to, safety shoes, eye protection, hand protection, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
• Potential to work overtime as requested to meet plant/customer needs.
