    JOB SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for maintenance of the facility and equipment to accommodate production/warehousing in a safe working atmosphere. This position will follow through with all Preventive Maintenance on automation and equipment, as well as troubleshoot and solve most automation or equipment problems that may affect safety, quality, or production. He/she will work with outside contractors, vendors for maintaining equipment and needed inventories, and will continuously work to improve themselves, who will be working toward a two-year degree in industrial maintenance. This position will communicate with the Maintenance Manager and ORBIS responsible personnel on any and all activities that affect Safety, Quality or Production.



    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

    • Lead and supervise the maintenance department within the continuously run Corrugated Container Operations.
    • Develop the maintenance personnel to be capable of performing all mechanical and electrical repairs needed for an efficient operation.
    • Capable of balancing costs -vs- repairs and upgrades while managing the parts inventory levels.
    • Responsible for the budget of manpower and material costs.
    • Demonstrate a commitment toward safety and total quality in the execution of the maintenance department.
    • Track competencies of subordinates and provides leadership and development as required to meet performance expectations. Provide coaching and feedback on a regular basis to the Maintenance team. Develops and delivers competency-specific training and evaluate staff on new competencies
    • Create and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key Maintenance processes including preventative maintenance and setups of lines
    • Lead PMs, product line changeovers and/or repairs and maintenance of all plant equipment as needed in an efficient and timely manner
    • Ensure critical issues are handled and communicated appropriately and in a timely manner
    • Report any quality or safety issues and assist in implementing corrective and preventive action for these issues where possible
    • Promote continual improvement within the operation
    • Manage shift within budgetary constraints with a favorable outcome (labor costs and parts)
    • Drives performance to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and expectations for Maintenance department., such reducing production line downtime, adherence to preventative maintenance schedule, limit overtime costs, improve line setup and startup efficiency
    • Develop and tracks improvement in the efficient use of indirect labor and material resources within budget for the Maintenance department
    • Maintain complete compliance with the GMP, USDA, and all other regulatory agencies
    • Lead efforts to repair, maintain and perform routine maintenance on production and food packaging equipment-as well as all facilities and machinery throughout the facility
    • Provide operational leadership across the Maintenance team including technical expertise, management of overtime costs and performance of team on key metrics

    • Physical Requirements
      • Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, or crawl.
      • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
      • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    Education, Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree preferred technical degrees and training a plus.
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience required
    • 5 years of electrical/machinery maintenance in the corrugated industry preferred.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytic troubleshooting capability.
    • Technical background in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic, processing, blueprints
    • Knowledge of lockout tag out, all safety related issues while working on or around plant/production equipment
    • Knowledge of communicative properties in all areas of plant operations
    • Knowledge of formula's, theories, and measurements
    • Knowledge of ANSI and QS9000 regulations
    • Able to use technical equipment and tools to trouble shoot many problems associated with plant equipment
    • Computer literate
    • Skills in work priorities
    • Some understanding of drawings and or procedures that have to do with maintaining equipment/ building side of plant operations
    • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak English
    • Demonstrated safety leadership of a Maintenance Team
    • Familiarity with typical site requirements in environmental, health, and safety; and understanding how they impact the maintenance organization
    • A broad understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance including breakdown maintenance, predictive and preventative maintenance programs, etc.
    • An expansive understanding of multiple maintenance crafts/equipment categories
    • Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.
    • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, including the ability to assist others in resolving issues with equipment, mechanical/electrical systems, and controls
    • Must be results-oriented, possessing strong interpersonal skills and team leadership skills.
    • Must possess strong and effective verbal and written communication skills including e mails.
    • Ability to communicate in English is required, bilingual language ability (Spanish and English) desirable.
    • User level experience with Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Office, Outlook, and Power Point
    • Must be flexible and available to work outside of designated shift hours and/or weekend hours when necessary
