IT RIS/PACS Administrator
Position Summary
Responsible for assisting in all areas of the IT department with emphasis on supporting the RIS/PACS systems, phone system issues, help desk functions, and electronic claims.
Reporting
Reports directly to the Information Technology Manager.
Supervision-None
Typical Physical Demands
Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time. Requires ability to view and type on computer screens for extended periods of time and to work in an environment which can be stressful. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type 40wpm, operate a telephone, copier, and other office equipment, as necessary.
Typical Working Conditions - Work is performed in an office environment.
RIS Administrator
- Complete understanding of Radiology Workflow
- Responsible for RIS workflow in: Scheduling, Front Desk, Registration, Technologist, Radiologist, Transcription
- Create and maintain user access
- Support Scanning functionality into RIS and PACS
- Install and verify application upgrades on ALL Workstations
- Work Directly with Vendor and Engineers
- Work directly with Department Managers, Supervisors, Leads, Techs and PACS Admin
PACS Administrator
- Work with Hardware Team with server upgrades and support
- Work with Network and Security teams
- Work with NEXSAN Engineers on hardware and storage analysis/utilization
- Responsible for PACS application functionality
- Responsible for PACS training and support
- Responsible for PACS upgrades on all workstations
- Longterm NEXSAN Storage and CACHE
- Monitor SERVER Processes and Interface Health
- Monitor connectivity and bandwidth with all connected devices
- Powerscibe360 training and support
- Work directly with modality service engineers (GE, Hologic, Siemens, Fuji etc.)
- Work with Technologists to trouble shoot modalities prior to calling service engineers or vendor support
- Train and support all users that access the PACS System
- Radiologists, Technologists, MA's, Medical Records, IT Staff, Surgeons, Specialists and Referring Physicians
- Assist Techs with QA Issues
- Correct Tech Imaging errors
- Perform Merges and Delete for Technologist and Medical Records
- Build and Modify Display Protocols
- Assist Technologist Supervisors and Leads with MQSA Certification
- Assist Technologist Supervisors and Leads with ACR Accreditation related to Imaging Quality
- Assist Physicist with diagnostic monitors (Calibration, Lmin & Lmax)
- Configure and test PACS to send/receive DICOM Imaging from external partners
- Ex: Hospitals, PACS System, Modalities, Image Shares (Powershare, EHealth, LifeImage, Syncronis) Vertex
- Other duties as assigned.
Performance Requirements
- Familiar with Exam and CPT Codes
- Strong understanding how RIS Workflow affects all downstream applications
- Complete understanding of patient/imaging workflow in hospital and outpatient imaging centers
- Understand DICOM storage and transmission
- Strong Powerscribe 360 knowledge creating macros, custom fields, and categorization
- Knowledge of modality configuration and how they acquire, store and transfer images to PACS in DICOM format
- Knowledge of diagnostic breast imaging workflow (Screening, Diagnostic, Pre and Post Surgery
- Knowledge of external facilities/devices sending and receiving DICOM Images
- Experience with the following applications:

Education
High school diploma or GED
Experience
Min. 1 year computer troubleshooting experience.
Experience using PACS in a clinical/hospital setting.
