Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. We are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team in Lincoln to provide general support and case management of a partner’s plaintiff workers’ compensation and personal injury litigation caseload.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Drafting legal documents including discovery, motions, pleadings, records subpoenas, etc.

    · Organizing and maintaining case files.

    · Verbally communicating with clients, attorneys, medical providers, and insurance carriers.

    · Maintaining and managing partner calendar and schedule.

    · Meeting with clients.

    · Preparing cases for hearings.

    · Preparing Excel spreadsheets for wage calculations, exhibit lists, witness lists, and medical bill itemizations.

    · Drafting correspondence to clients, attorneys, medical providers and insurance carriers.

    · Gathering and analyzing documentation including medical records, bills, & wage information.

    · Summarizing medical records and deposition transcripts.

    Salary: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year, depending upon education and experience

    Schedule:

    • 8-hour shift
    • Monday to Friday
