Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. GENERAL SUMMARY of Paralegal/Legal Assistant
To provide administrative legal support to attorneys and paralegals. Pre-suit file management and litigation support in plaintiff personal injury cases.
JOB DUTIES of Paralegal/Legal Assistant
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
o Collect, organize, and summarize certified medical records/bills
o Follow up on missing medical information
o Research medical providers
o Schedule meetings, conference calls, depositions, etc.
o Handle intake calls & schedule appointments
o Work with insurance carriers (liability/UIM/UM/subrogation)
o Claims setup
o Client contact
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
o Good understanding of personal injury process
o Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
o Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks
o Ability to function independently and prioritize assignments
o Ability to uphold high standards of confidentiality

o Good phone skills
o Knowledge/experience with Filevine Case Management software a plus
