Paralegal Supervisor jobs in North Carolina

Paralegal Supervisor supervises the paralegal team and implements systems and processes utilized to conduct research and produce legal documents. Coordinates the preparation of legal documents and tracks projects to ensure the work is completed accurately and on time. Being a Paralegal Supervisor organizes documents into formal report and proofs for attorneys. Trains paralegals to effectively utilize databases and legal libraries to conduct research. Additionally, Paralegal Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Paralegal Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Paralegal Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.   • We are a full service business law firm seeking a paralegal to become a part of our team in our New Bern office. The successful candidate will work on bankruptcy, transactional matters, trusts/estates, and general civil litigation matters.

    Responsibilities:

    • General case preparation and maintenance of case files
    • Calendaring deadlines, trial schedules, and appointments
    • Assist with the drafting and reviewing complaints, motions, discovery, and other pleadings
    • Filing documents with state and federal courts and agencies
    • Providing updates to clients, sending letters, and other written communication
    • Other administrative tasks as needed

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in the legal field and familiarity with paralegal responsibilities, systems, and procedures
    • Ability to prioritize and multitask
    • Effectively communicate with assigned attorneys, other staff, court and agency personnel, and the public, verbally and in writing
    • Strong organizational and planning skills
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in bankruptcy law, litigation and trial preparation
    • Certification through the North Carolina State Bar or paralegal degree
