Park Naturalist plans, develops, and conducts programs to inform the public of historical, natural, and scientific features concerning national, state, or local parks. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Seasonal Interpreter/Naturalist
Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00
Job Location/Shift: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Roaring River State Park, 12716 Farm Road 2239 Cassville, MO. About 10 miles of hiking trails run through Roaring River State Park. The interpreter/naturalist will help maintain these trails regularly with weed eaters, loppers, handsaws, and brush cutters. The interpreter/naturalist will assist with larger trail projects as well to combat erosion and repair damaged trails. The interpreter/naturalist will assist in the nature center and lead programs and hikes. They will have the opportunity to help with natural resource stewardship projects such as planting native pollinator plants and managing invasive species. The schedule will be 8-hour days up to five days a week. This position will be temporary between the months of March - October 2023, 20-40 hours per week, and shall not exceed 1,000 hours total during the length of employment. On-site housing may be available. The work hours are flexible and negotiable, but you will be expected to work weekends and holidays.
