Park Naturalist plans, develops, and conducts programs to inform the public of historical, natural, and scientific features concerning national, state, or local parks. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Description
Assists in educating the public and conducting public programs. Applicants should be working towards an associate's degree in parks and recreation, environmental science, or a degree in a closely related field. Excellent visitor service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Represents the park district in a positive manner and communicates well with park visitors and program participants. Works well in a team environment with park staff and volunteers.
Pay Rate: $10.45 to $15 per hour, commensurate with the employee’s experience.
Hours: Up to 39 hours per week.
Requirements
Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
