Assesses the needs of the parolee, schedules and sets standards for supervision and creates reports on progress and behavior. Being a Parole Officer is responsible for scheduling or supervising rehabilitation program attendance and progress. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Parole Officer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Parole Officer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Basic Qualification:

    • U.S. Citizen; eligible for U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
    • Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 7 years, or master’s degree with 3 to 5 years, or PhD with 1 to 2 years’ experience is required.
    • Knowledge of small aperture terminals (VSAT), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), advanced radio communications, laptops, mobile phones, and video communication systems.
    • Training and experience in civilian-based field operations, particularly as it pertains to safety and security.
    • Knowledge of PSTN (public switched or local telephone system)/ VSAT circuits for voice and e-mail capability.
    • Knowledge of Amateur radio networks (ARRL), Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS).
    • Knowledge of HF/VHF/UHF radio frequency
    • Experience deploying, managing, and supporting disaster assistance response teams.

     

    Preferred Qualification:

    Active Secret Security Clearance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the Communications Officer supporting the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean.
    • Manage Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) communications, supervises and trains personnel in the use and operations of equipment and systems, and develops and implements the DART communications plan.
    • Attend pre-departure briefings and consult with the USAID Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) to identify team communications requirements.
    • Work with the Planning Officer to ensure that equipment is sufficient to meet requirements for conducting assessments, tracking resources, updating current events, and conveying information back to Washington.
    • Assemble the required documents, manuals, and communications equipment and coordinate packaging for shipment.
    • Acquire local list of communicators and reference listing of radio frequencies.
    • Ensure all DART members have OFDA eRoom accounts and have been added to the appropriate DART eRoom.
    • Set up initial communications link to OFDA/W (typically satcom, voice/data).
    • Obtain information from USAID/Embassy on frequency uses, call signs and authorizations, available personnel, communications facilities, and USAID Computer Net availability.
    • Set up Communications Center at DART headquarters, suboffices, and residences as required.
    • Develop interim communications plan.
    • Instruct DART members on use of equipment.
    • Maintain adequate equipment and support personnel to support the DART until departure.
    • Ensure equipment being released for shipment is properly packaged and documents are properly prepared (AWB, manifests, customs declarations, etc.).
    • Compile communications’ After-Action Report and prepare or provide documentation for the team’s After-Action Report.
