    General Remarks

    The responsibilities of the lead pastors at the Church of All Nations, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-congregational church with four language-specific ministries—English Ministry (EM), Korean Ministry (KM), Hispanic Ministry (HM), and African Ministry (AM)—are derived from the authority given in ordination. The lead pastors are authorized to preach and teach the Word, provide pastoral care and counsel, administer the sacraments, and order the church's life for service in mission and ministry. They have a fourfold ministry of Word, Sacrament, Order, and Service and thus serve in the local church in witness and service of Christ’s love and justice.

    Primary Responsibilities of the Position

    Staff Structure and Relationships

    (1) Attend all scheduled lead pastors and staff meetings to tend to all church matters.

    (2) Consult Church Council on plans and policies.

    (3) Cooperate fully with the church leaders for the good of the church.

    (4) Be directly accountable to the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee (PPRC)

    (5) Submit monthly reports for the first six months and an annual year-end report to the PPRC.

    Word and ecclesial acts

    (1) Preach the Word of God, lead worship, read and teach the Scriptures, engage the people in study and witness, ensure faithful transmission of the Christian faith, and lead people in discipleship and evangelistic outreach so that others might come to know Christ and follow him.

    (a) Work with the respective worship team (including the worship pastor and the pianist, if applicable) to foster a vibrant weekly worship experience.

    (b) Preach at least 45 sermons annually, ensure the proper advance scheduling of guest preachers when needed, and notify the PPRC of any changes.

    (c) Plan and participate in occasional multi-lingual ministry events in partnership with the other ministries.

    (2) Provide pastoral care to the respective members, their families, and the whole church, especially those with personal, ethical, or spiritual struggles.

    (a) Visit the members of the respective ministry and other ministries at their homes, works, and businesses as regularly and needed as possible.

    (b) Follow up on the absent members by calling them to explore the possible ministry needs and provide necessary counseling and directions.

    (c) Pray for the respective ministry members and, if needed, the members of the other ministries.

    (3) Perform the ecclesial acts of marriage and burial. The marriage ceremony requires due counseling with the parties involved and by the state’s laws and the church’s rules. Also, conduct funeral and memorial services and provide care and grief counseling. The decision to perform the ceremony shall be the right and responsibility of the pastor.

    (4) Visit the homes of the church members and the community, especially among the sick, aged, imprisoned, and others in need.

    (5) Maintain all confidences inviolate, including confessional beliefs, except in the cases of suspected child abuse or neglect or where mandatory reporting is required by civil law.

    Sacrament

    (1) Administer the baptism and the Lord's Supper according to Christ’s ordinance.

    (a) Seek out non-members and newcomers to profess their faith and join the church. Prepare them for baptism.

    (b) Prepare the parents and sponsors before baptizing infants or children and instruct them concerning the significance of baptism and their responsibilities for the Christian training of the baptized child.

    (c) Encourage reaffirmation of the baptismal covenant and renewal of baptismal vows at different stages of life.

    (d) Encourage those baptized in infancy or early childhood to make their profession of faith after instruction so that they might become professing church members.

    (e) Explain the meaning of the Lord’s Supper and encourage regular participation as a means of grace to grow in faith and holiness.

    (2) Select and train lay members to serve in worship and sacramental practices.

    Order

    (1) Be the administrative officer of the respective ministry and the church and ensure that the organizational concerns of the ministry and the church are adequately provided for.

    (a) Give pastoral support, guidance, and training to the lay leadership, equipping them to fulfill the ministry to which they are called.

    (b) Oversee the church’s educational and discipleship program.

    (c) Responsible for organizational faithfulness, goal setting, planning, execution, and evaluation.

    (d) Counsel and lead members of the respective ministry and church leadership to be effective in their ministries.

    (2) Administer the temporal affairs of each ministry and the church.

    (a) Administer the provisions of the Discipline.

    (b) Give the charge and annual conference account according to the prescribed forms.

    (c) Model and promote faithful financial stewardship and encourage giving as a spiritual discipline by teaching the biblical principles of giving.

    (d) Lead the congregation in fulfilling its mission by fully and faithfully paying all apportioned ministerial support and administrative and benevolent funds.

    (e) Maintain healthy communication systems for the church and each ministry to ensure effective operation, including communication of information to members, ‘check-ins,’ and follow-up with guests.

    (f) Maintain each ministry membership record book (name, dob, phone no., email, address, baptism, etc.

    (3) Participate in denominational and conference programs and training opportunities.

    (a) Seek cooperative and collaborative ministry opportunities with other lead pastors, denominational leaders, and churches.

    (b) Be willing to assume supervisory responsibilities within the connection.

    (4) Lead the respective ministry and the church in racial and ethnic inclusiveness and be loyal to the multicultural vision of the church.

    Service:

    (1) Embody the teachings of Jesus in servant ministries and servant leadership.

    (2) Give diligent pastoral leadership in ordering the life of the members for discipleship in the world.

    (3) Build each ministry together with the other ministries of the church as caring and giving communities, extending the ministry of Christ to each other and the world.

    (4) Participate in the community concerns, encourage the people to become so involved, pray, and labor for the unity of the Christian community.

    (5) Identify, recruit, and equip leaders for mission and service in the HM and church.

    (6) Oversee the planning and execution of 2-3 major outreach events each year and coordinate the process with other ministries if necessary.

    Pay: $27,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
