    The University of Sioux Falls invites applications for the position of Campus Pastor. The University of Sioux Falls offers a unique opportunity at a private Christian University with a vibrant student population in the growing Midwest City of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    The individual serving as the USF Campus Pastor occupies a pivotal leadership role in guiding students toward opportunities for spiritual growth and development at the University of Sioux Falls. Responsible for developing, overseeing, implementing, and continually evaluating campus ministries on campus, this position provides spiritual and educational leadership through chapel services, engaging students in community service projects and involvement, mentoring, local ministry involvement and connections, mission trips, prayer groups, small groups, student chaplain program, and worship events. The Campus Pastor actively contributes to the planning and direction of programs and activities aligned with the university's mission and identity, working collaboratively with various campus departments and supervisors/area vice presidents, and very specifically with the director of student life. The Campus Pastor at USF reports directly to the University President with indirect report to the VP for Enrollment Management/Student Life.

    MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

    · Provide primary leadership in actively seeking positive church relations across denominational representation of the University and within its regional footprint.

    · Lead and nurture pastoral care for students within a collaborative team framework, catering to a diverse student body.

    · Advocate for USF’s Christian mission and identity within the campus community.

    · Coordinate and lead weekly chapel services, including the music component.

    · Foster the spiritual welfare of the broader USF community, with a primary focus on the needs of the entire student body.

    · Develop and lead programming and events, which may include additional faith formation activities as deemed necessary.

    · Facilitate small group studies, service learning projects, and mission opportunities; help lead or support campus-wide service learning events in conjunction and collaboration with the Student Life Department.

    · Lead and encourage mission trips for USF students in accordance with established guidelines and University policies and procedures.

    Participate actively in the campus community, addressing spiritual needs within various programs operated under the auspices of the University.

    · Advise the administration on matters related to the Christian mission of the university.

    · Serve as a liaison between the university and the Sioux Falls Area community, representing the university at youth and church events and other appropriate events as determined.

    · Plan, oversee, and/or participate in special commemorations and services, such as Christmas celebrations, graduation events, new student orientations, and alumni and donor events.

    · Communicate and collaborate with the USF Theology department on appropriate initiatives.

    · Work cooperatively with the offices of Student Life, Athletics, University Counseling, Academic Success, Academic Affairs, Human Resources, and others as needed.

    · Regularly attend campus ministry and student development events and activities.

    · Periodically serve on committees as requested.

    · Manage departmental budget(s) as needed and consider entrepreneurial strategies for ministry in the spirit of stewardship of resources.

    · Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:

    · Understanding of and commitment to the Christian mission of the University of Sioux Falls with the ability to articulate the institution’s Christian mission.

    · Minimum of a Master's of Divinity degree or similar; preferred ordained pastor

    · Demonstrated success and experience in pastoral leadership and demonstrated dispositional attributes appealing to diversity in all of its forms on a University campus.

    · Ability to effectively deal with students at any point of the faith continuum in their lives

    Preferred:

    · Demonstrated experience on a college campus or similar environment

    · Ordination with a recognized denomination

    · Strong verbal and personal interactive skills; ability to lead worship in a creative and innovative manner

    · Ability to effectively supervise both professional staff and emerging student leaders

    · Ability to relate to a diverse student population and foster the spiritual development of a multi-generational student body

    · Ability to maintain appropriate relationships with staff and interact with others in a pastoral role

    · Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with an understanding of the role of communication and personal interaction in developing a faith community

    · Model a leadership style that embraces collaboration, reflects vision and creativity, fosters a sense of spiritual vibrancy, and maintains confidentiality as appropriate.

    Required of University positions:

    · Ability to successfully pass a required background check

    · Ability to perform all duties associated with the position, including, but not limited to, lifting up to 30 pounds, with prolonged standing, sitting, bending, and stooping

    · Proficient with technology, including but not limited to computers, Microsoft Office Suite, internet, printer/fax/copier
