Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare develops programs and provides services designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, their families, and healthcare staff. Ensures that pastoral services are staffed so that chaplains are available to support patients and families facing difficult medical choices. Being a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare ensures that emotional support, spiritual counsel and comfort are provided. Plans and coordinates with other clergy to conduct interfaith worship experiences. Additionally, Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare may perform the duties of a chaplain. Requires a master's degree in divinity. Typically reports to top management. The Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Join our team as Director of Social Services and foster an environment that enables our patients to maximize their well-being and overall quality of life. In this role, you will plan, develop, organize, evaluate, and direct the overall operation of the Social Services Department by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics and federal, state, and local guidelines. You may supervise a staff of up to 2 employees.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Collaborates with social services staff, interdisciplinary team, and administration to promote and protect patient rights, dignity, independence, and psychological well-being
    • Maintains good working relationships with center employees, meeting with administration and nursing staff to collaborate and plan
    • Assures a comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment is completed for each patient that identifies social, emotional, and psychological needs and strengths.
    • Educates patients and families regarding their rights and responsibilities, health care decision-making/advance directives, effective problem solving, and available community resources
    • Provides therapeutic interventions to assist patients to cope with their transition and adjustment to a long-term care facility and to address behavior or mood problems

    Qualifications:

    A high School Diploma or GED is required -relevant experience is a plus not required will train the right candidate.

    * Additional certification in Geriatric Case Management, Hospice & Palliative Care, Gerontology, Clinical Social Work, Health Care, Nephrology, Mental Health, and/or Substance Abuse preferred * Management/administrative/supervisory experience preferred * To protect the health and safety of our patients, residents, employees, family members, and the communities we serve, Genesis has implemented a universal COVID-19 vaccination requirement for employees, care partners and onsite vendors.
