Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare develops programs and oversees services designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, their families, and healthcare staff. Ensures that pastoral services are staffed so that chaplains are available to support patients and families facing difficult medical choices. Being a Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare establishes policies and procedures to facilitate optimal service delivery and ensure that emotional support, spiritual counsel, and comfort are provided. Evaluates and reviews records of counseling sessions and visitation logs to ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards. Additionally, Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare plans and coordinates with other clergy to conduct interfaith worship experiences. May perform the duties of a chaplain. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Pastoral Care Director - Healthcare typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Overview

    Provide leadership, vision, service excellence, and financial oversight. This dynamic leader is responsible for driving a culture of collaboration with the Executive Director to execute the vision and direction of the Cancer Centers. This encompasses strategies, programs, processes and procedures, including measures of success, which are aligned with the organizations strategic plan, resulting in continued growth and development.

    Work collaboratively with Providers, Leadership Team members, Infusion Services, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Research, Education, and Navigation Team in planning and delivery of optimal care using best practices and NCCN guidelines. Operate from an expert knowledge base of cancer care while supervising, coaching, and mentoring personnel. Ensure cost effective patient outcomes through the supervision of clinical/professional staff, collaboration with medical staff, nursing and support staff. Confidence, integrity, skilled communication, and positivity are also essential. All members of the Leadership Team who need to use a phone for business purposes must use a personal cell phone.

    Responsibilities

    Evaluate processes and clinical practice operations to design opportunities for improvement.

    Participate in the annual operating budget process to assist in developing and evaluation of projections as they relate to visits, treatments, and staffing, along with equipment needs and quality improvements for cost reduction.

    Ensure compliance with state/federal and other regulatory and accreditation body guidelines and requirements.

    Supports short- and long-term goals that drive the success of the Oncology Service Line in areas such as staffing, operational processes, protocols, designing pathways and systems, and monitoring progress to ensure ongoing and consistent integrated multidisciplinary care.

    Create a collaborative environment across the service line that supports patient satisfaction as well as staff satisfaction goals by developing and implementing processes and standards, effective communication, and collaboration.

    Maintain professional growth and development of self and staff through professional affiliations and education.

    Serve as a role model and mentor in leadership skill development, problem solving, innovation, coaching, and interpersonal skills to motivate, recruit, and retain staff.

    Ability to work under stressful situations, and good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates commitment to quality patient care, and emotional maturity and stability.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Credentials

    Essential:* RN - Registered Nurse

    Education

    Essential:* Bachelor's Degree in related field

    Other Information

    Holds an active OCN Certification through the ONCC.

    Bachelors required. MSN preferred.

    Five years progressive management experience in the area of patient care.

    Registered Nurse must be licensed in the State of Delaware. Membership in professional organizations is encouraged.
