  • Job Summary:

    This position serves as the Pastoral Assistant at the Corpus Christi Cathedral Parish under the direction of the Rector providing general assistance and support for Parish operations.

    Ministerial Character:

    The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (the Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

    Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the Parish Business Manager is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

    Areas of Responsibility:

    The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.

    • Manages daily administrative operations of the Parish providing support and assistance where needed
    • Communicates regularly with the Rector notifying him of any issues, needs, or questions regarding Parish operations
    • Provides general support to Rector and/or Parochial Vicar(s)
    • In collaboration with the Rector, establishes and implements short-term and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the Cathedral Parish and ensures compliance with existing Diocesan policies and procedures
    • Oversees the Parish budget and serves as liaison with the Fiscal Office at the Chancery to provide support for business matters of the Cathedral Parish; provides financial information to Finance Council as needed
    • Provides oversight for building and grounds maintenance
    • Assists in preparation for and coordination of special events and projects
    • Coordinates the Cathedral and St. Joseph Hall calendars
    • Under the direction of the Rector, coordinates the duties/tasks of Cathedral Parish employees and volunteers
    • Provides ministerial support if needed
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Position Information:

    • Reports to Cathedral Rector
    • Part-time, non-exempt position
    • Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening
    • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required

    Qualifications:

    • 5 Years of relevant experience
    • High School Diploma is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred
    • Practicing Catholic in good standing is required
    • A thorough understanding of the Catholic Faith
    • A thorough understanding of accounting principles
    • Valid driver’s license
