Responsible for preparing and filing patent applications and trademark registrations, litigating pending applications and registrations, and reporting possible violations. Being a Patent Attorney prosecutes violations of organization's registrations and/or patents. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, Patent Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patent Attorney work is closely managed. Responsibilities
- Prepare contracts, briefs, motions, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research
- Prepare for and attend legal proceedings
- Provide legal counsel in conjunction with senior associates
- Negotiate on behalf of clients
- Maintain detailed and accurate client records
- Supervise paralegals and administrative assistants
- Successful completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school and bar exam
- Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to best serve clients
