We are looking for a talented and energetic Associate Attorney to add to our growing practice. Primary duties will start with legal research and writing, with the opportunity to quickly move into handling court appearances and hearings. Developing your own case load will be supported and encouraged. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with bar admission and up to 3 years' experience, who will hit the ground running and easily acclimate to our client focused, law firm culture. You should e driven, contribute to the team, a self-starter, and possess excellent research and writing skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited law school.
- Member of State Bar of Michigan in good standing.
- Experience in conducting legal research using Westlaw, Lexis and available legal resources.
-Superior legal research and writing skills for motions, briefs, and sentencing memos.
- Ability to present statements of fact, laws, and arguments clearly and logically, both verbally and in writing including before judges.
-Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to legal problems and matters.
-Excellent communication skills for preparing reports and recommendations.
- Skill in managing one's own time, as well as the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to request clarification when needed.
Once hired, the new associate will be required to hit the ground running, researching and writing motions and other legal documents. Experience in writing a filing appeal documents is definitely a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and abilities.
