Patent Attorney determines potential of granting patents on inventions or trademarks, and monitors possibility of infringement. Responsible for preparing and filing patent applications and trademark registrations, litigating pending applications and registrations, and reporting possible violations. Being a Patent Attorney prosecutes violations of organization's registrations and/or patents. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, Patent Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patent Attorney work is closely managed. Patent Associate - Portland, MEPierce Atwood seeks a patent associate with a degree and background in computer science, electrical engineering, or physics to join our Patent Practice Group in the Portland, Maine office.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2-3 years patent prosecution experience
- Technical understanding of medical devices, robotics, and/or machine learning
- Excellent academic credentials
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Excellent writing ability
