    Position Title: Attorney
Company Name: Capital Collateral Regional Counsel Middle Region
    Sector: Other
    Job Type: Full-Time

Capital Collateral Regional Counsel - Middle Region (CCRC-M ) has an open attorney position. Our office engages in the endeavor that is post-conviction representation in death penalty cases in state and federal courts in Florida.

The CCRC-M is both a state agency and a law office: we're administered by the Justice Administrative Commission like the Regional Counsels, the State Attorney and the Public Defender offices. The Middle District is the middle 3 rd of the state, basically all central Florida. We are headquartered in Tampa Bay, but our work takes us throughout the state and on occasion, nationwide as well. We operate in local circuit courts, the Florida Supreme Court, and in the federal courts that are the Middle District of Florida and the 11 th Circuit Court of Appeals. We also have cases that appear before SCOTUS. Our workload is entirely post-conviction death penalty representation of indigent clients.

That explains what we do, but we'd like to express what it's like to work for us: we're a smaller state agency, a tight-knit group of professionals aimed at the singular goal of providing the best representation to the indigent on death row. We enjoy a more studious, relaxed environment where those of you with experience litigating in court can put your legal acumen to good use for a good cause, as we're more into writing and research than we are the hustle of going in and out of courthouses. The legal work in these cases is challenging and fascinating and it'll give you an opportunity to see how you can make a real difference in people's lives or even the justice system. There's the opportunity to travel from time to time, so you're not completely tied to your desk, but most of the time you'll work out of your office keeping regular business hours. We are in a professional office park; you don't have to fight for parking that you have to pay for. You also don't have elevators to wait for or security Iines to stand in: you pull up in the morning, access the building with your credentials, and into the office you go. We think you should be challenged by the work, not getting into work. We are business casual in the office, lunches are flexible and so are the hours, within reason. We're looking for people to help in this cause, that are hard workers that are done with the day-to-day grind or being asked to do more with even less every year. We believe we offer a workplace that has a better work/life balance that's not the endless treadmill of working out of courtrooms and going from hearing to hearing. We have deadlines, and the work does challenge you, but people who work here don't dread Sundays like those folks who go into work dreading starting the marathon early Monday morning. We have excellent state benefits on top of the salary offer, which includes great medical and retirement options. We're looking for dedicated advocates for our clients that want to make a real difference. If this is you, please follow or cut and paste this link to our People First posting. Instructions on how to officially apply are listed in the How To Apply section of the posting:

For those of you who aren't from our area of Florida, I'd also like to sell you on Tampa: We are in Tampa Bay, which offers miles of beaches, world class venues for the arts and culture, and we are routinely listed by folks like Forbes, TIME Magazine, WalletHub, and Money as one of the best places to live. We hope you consider us for your career.
