Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Provide comprehensive macroscopic examination of surgical pathology specimens under the supervision of a pathologist. Primary duties include composing the clinical history, recording the macroscopic anatomic findings, submitting tissue sections for microscopic examination, maintaining up to date policies and procedures, and quality assurance. No call or weekend duties. No postmortem examinations performed. The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytic and diagnostic reasoning skills. The candidate must also have knowledge of PC applications.

Experience:
