Patient Accounts Supervisor supervises credit, collection, insurance, and billing clerks in an inpatient and/or outpatient accounting office. Coordinates activities and schedules work assignments to meet billing deadlines. Being a Patient Accounts Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Under the general direction of the Patient Account Manager, this position provides the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of all outstanding commercial, managed care and self-pay open balances. Develops and maintains policy and procedures relevant to Collection and Customer Service. The Patient Accounts Supervisor will enhance the Hospitals revenue cycle performance while maintain a positive customer service impact.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
Associates Degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. Two to three years of management experience in a hospital business office environment may be substituted.
B. Training and Experience:
Requires two to three years of either physician office or hospital business
Office management experience. Prefer experience in a variety of healthcare revenue cycle positions.
C. Job Knowledge:
Must be familiar with revenue cycle practices and procedures including Patient Accounts. Must be able to schedule, meet, and maintain daily and monthly workload. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Should possess analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be of sound character. Must be able to handle work stress and keep pace with the demands of a busy healthcare environment. Must be able to plan, organize, and direct computer system activities with all levels of Business Office employees and associated staff.
