Scheduling Coordinator We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable team member to join our patient-centered orthodontic practice. Applicant should be personally stable, responsible, and health-centered in lifestyle but most of all, passionate about orthodontics.
The Scheduling Coordinator (SC) is responsible for scheduling patients, verifying insurance benefits, communication with other providers, answering phone calls, emails and texts along with the paper flow relevant to new patient intake, patient accounts, and collecting payment for services.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Great interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a positive rapport with patients, parents, doctors, staff, and members of the community.
· Basic computer knowledge.
· Letter composition skills and legible handwriting for entries in appointment book, patient charts, etc.
· Effective verbal skills to supervise staff as well as communicate with patients, parents, doctors, and staff, in person and on the telephone.
· Pleasant telephone voice.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
· Greet patients in a warm and friendly manner.
· Follow up on new patient calls/website appointment requests (schedule exams, email welcome letters, request patient health information, check insurance benefits).
· Appropriately schedule appointments to ensure quality care for patients in a timely, stress-free manner (monitor schedule consistently).
· Determine the necessity and reason for the appointment by reading the patient's chart.
· Learn & use proper terminology and scripting when dealing with patients in a way that sounds professional and allows the patient to understand.
· Provide patients with school and appointment slips as necessary.
· Follow-up on all missed appointments and fill canceled appointment slots.
· Notify the team of changes occurring in the schedule throughout the workday.
· Request patient records (xrays, periodontal charting) from other dental providers.
· Review files semi-annually to confirm that each patient has future scheduled appointments.
· Update patient information as received.
· Collect payment for services
Previous experience with front office scheduling is preferred but willing to train the right person. Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications/skills:
