Patient Representative acts as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare organization to support patient-centric care delivery. Communicates patients' questions, concerns, and issues to appropriate staff members, follows up, and facilitates solutions as needed. Being a Patient Representative explains policies, procedures, rights, and applicable regulations to patients and provides informational resources about available services. Working with multi-disciplinary teams may make recommendations for improvements to the patient experience. Additionally, Patient Representative may participate in discharge processes or administer patient satisfaction surveys. Follows all applicable regulations regarding patient information privacy policies. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Representative works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     About the Role:

    The Patient Account Representative is responsible for managing account resolutions regarding patient balances by ensuring payments are received in a timely manner from patients.

    Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Experience/Education:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Previous experience in collections
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, EMR software, payroll software, and all other software programs.
    • Must uphold all principles of confidentiality and patient care to the fullest extent while adhering to and complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) at all times
    • Able to perform basic mathematical computations.
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and reading. The employee may occasionally handle up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
    • Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm
    • Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion team.

    Essential Functions:

    • Responsible for refunding patient credits.
    • Communicate directly with patients to send statements and collect balances.
    • Prepare final notices for outstanding patient balances.
    • Submit outstanding patient accounts to collection agency.
    • Review/Posting of unapplied cash.
    • Set up and review terms of payment plans are being met.
    • Participate in end of month closing procedures.

There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors, and staff.
