Patient Safety Specialist assists in the development and implementation of patient safety programs. Gathers data detailing patient-related errors and conducts analysis for management detailing the cause of the error. Being a Patient Safety Specialist recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Gives presentations and training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Additionally, Patient Safety Specialist tests patient-safety knowledge of employees and recommends changes to training programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Job Summary
The Safety Specialist supports the Safety Manager and enforces the company safety program on behalf of each subsidiary of McGuire & Hester. Provides technical insight, analysis, investigations, and risk management for all jobsites by ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal safety regulations.

Education and Experience: OSHA 30-hour course; 40-hour HAZWOPER training (other safety Professional certificates recommended)
Language Skills: must be able to read and write in English at a professional level; bi-lingual in Spanish helpful
Mathematical Skills: able to perform construction mathematics calculations
Plan and Specifications: Must have the ability to understand Plans and Specifications for each type of project the company constructs.
Planning and Organizing: the individual prioritizes and plans work activities for themselves and others
Reasoning Ability: this position requires strong problem-solving skills, and reading comprehension; must deal with both standardized and non-standard situations with many variables
Interpersonal Skills: the ability to interface with a wide variety of people including clients, employees, managers, agencies and the public; public speaking is required for this position
Computer Skills: must have strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and train others to use company technology
Certificates, Licenses, Registration: valid CA Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
Compensation:
$35 - 45/hr, based on skills, experience, and knowledge
