Patient Transporter transports patients to and from their inpatient beds and other areas like therapy, surgery or radiology. Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies and medications. Being a Patient Transporter may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Patient Transporter typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Transporter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Transports patients to and from all areas in the Hospital complex including patient care units and Diagnostic testing areas,
Report to work every day dressed professionally in uniform,
Responds to call on device from dispatcher and or other staff pertaining to patient transport or messenger needs,
Keep transport equipment clean and ready for use,
Report all malfunctioning equipment to manager,
Use proper body mechanics in transporting patients,
Properly identifies ID bands & asking name patient prior to starting transport,
Reports to Manager upon arrival at assigned area as well as reporting on completed calls to receive next assignment,
Immediately reports any delays or unusual circumstances to the Manager,
Maintains necessary records of transportation/messenger activity including name/item, the time of departure and the time of arrival to designated area,
Other duties and tasks as assign by Department Administration
