Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Facilitates budget, financial reporting, financial planning and production reporting systems and supports the on-going analysis of financial data. Uses analytical ability, systems administration knowledge, and use of software applications to develop new financial reports and improve system efficiency. Maintain the organization's financial reporting platform at the highest levels of performance. May be required to work overtime during peak periods. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Provides the leadership needed to maximize the effective utilization of financial information systems throughout the health system.
    • Provides financial staff with training on financial systems so they can effectively perform job duties.
    • Administrates the long range financial forecasting system, budgeting application, financial reporting application, and monthly physician production reporting processes including implementation, maintenance, reporting, and improvement processes.
    • Recommends operational and system changes to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial systems.
    • Controls financial databases to ensure financial reports are accurate.
    • Manages relationships with external software vendors to ensure high levels of technical support are realized.
    • Works with Finance and IS staff to ensure system interfaces are accurate.
    • Leads process improvement activities to proactively trouble shoot system issues.

    Education and Experience

    Extensive experience in the administration of database management systems with emphasis on financial systems. Proven ability to implement new systems, analyze system performance issues, and lead improvement processes. Bachelor's or associates degree in accounting/business administration with 5 years of relevant experience. Extensive and relevant experience and a proven ability to perform the job responsibilities may substitute for a degree.
