We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced accounting and payroll clerk to join our team. Responsibilites include processing general payables, receivables, employee expense reports and weekly payroll. This is a vital role within our organization, which requires handling confidential information with high ethical standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for timely payment processing of weekly Accounts Payable check runs and manual checks.
· Reconcile monthly cash account and credit card statements.
· Responsible for 1099 preparation and accurate reporting.
· Audits and enters employee expense reports.
· Ordering of approved office supplies (check stocks, general office supplies, etc.)
· Equipment and vehicle file maintenance, including permits, registrations, insurance cards, etc.
· Responsible for processing payroll for Sound Decisions and SD Construction as follows:
o Process weekly and biweekly payrolls in a timely and accurate manner.
o Coordinate with all locations and Human Resources to ensure all new employee information, such as employee changes and terminations are entered and processed in the payroll system timely and accurately.
o Responsible for set up of employee folders.
o Periodic payroll analysis and verification as requested by management.
o Certified payroll submissions as required by contracting agency.
o Responsible for W-2/W-3 preparation and accurate reporting.
· Preparation of Accounting Department audits.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
: Three years of progressive experience in a high volume accounting department setting or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Experience in the construction industry preferred. Demonstrated success in working independently is also preferred. Experience with Sage (100 Contractor) Software preferred.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
· Must be able to work in a high-volume environment.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work professionally and courteously with all levels of personnel.
· Excellent organizational, follow-up, and filing skills as well as being detailed oriented. Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures with emphasis on capital and expense differences and reconciling general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
Understanding of construction accounting and aspects of union reporting.
Understanding of Federal laws and State laws and regulations regarding aspects of payroll including (but not limited to) benefits, taxes, and quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
Must be able to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Strong experience with computerized high volume accounts payable processes.
· Good oral and written communications skills.
· Working knowledge of computers and common business software, specifically MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.
· Ability to operate 10-key by touch and type 45 wpm.
· Ability to work independently as well as a team.
