Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of payroll processing operations. Ensures accurate calculation of wages and processing of tax withholding and company deductions. Being a Payroll Supervisor prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc. Oversees the distribution of paychecks and direct deposit programs. Provides training to team on policies, regulations, and processes. Additionally, Payroll Supervisor assists team members with resolving errors or responding to inquiries. May be the first level escalation for complaints or complex error resolution. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. The Supervisor of Accounting and Reporting prepares financial accounting and reporting statement analysis for the Province and is responsible for the oversight of payroll processing, and cash receipts. This position will perform analysis in preparation and reporting of the annual budget for the Province as well as be responsible for the financial accounting, reporting and budgeting for certain subsidiary entities (sponsored works). It is necessary to maintain accounting principles, practices, procedures, and internal controls to enable the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). For payroll oversight, the Supervisor of Accounting and Reporting is responsible for supervising the Payroll Administrator and managing the disbursement of a multi-state payroll, consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws. The Supervisor of Accounting and Reporting should have strong analytical and communication skills and collaborate well with others. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA is preferred. Candidate must have five to seven years prior experience in financial accounting and reporting with a minimum of 3 years of payroll management and supervisory experience. Experience working in a not-for-profit or religious organization is preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The position requires extensive knowledge of financial accounting and reporting and a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (nonprofit). Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required. All candidates must be PC proficient with strong experience in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with ADP's E-time system and payroll portal along with Blackbaud's Financial Edge general ledger is a plus.
