Overview
The role of a Senior Property Tax Analyst is crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely management of property tax compliance and minimizing the organization's tax liabilities. This position plays a vital role in evaluating property assessments, researching tax laws, and providing financial analysis to support property tax planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze property assessments and tax liabilities.
- Research tax laws, statutes, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Prepare and review property tax returns and supporting documentation.
- Provide support for property tax audits and appeals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial and property data for tax reporting.
- Assess and mitigate property tax risks and identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Communicate with taxing authorities and external tax advisors regarding tax matters.
- Review and reconcile property tax assessments and payments.
- Assist in the development and implementation of property tax strategies.
- Conduct financial analysis to forecast property tax expenses and liabilities.
- Identify and implement process improvements related to property tax compliance.
- Participate in tax planning and compliance projects as needed.
- Stay updated on tax legislation and assess the impact on property tax obligations.
- Provide guidance and training to junior tax analysts and support staff.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures while performing job duties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in property tax analysis or related tax field.
- Strong understanding of property tax laws, regulations, and assessment practices.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling techniques.
- Excellent knowledge of tax reporting requirements and compliance standards.
- Ability to conduct in-depth research and analysis of tax-related issues.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Professional certification such as CMI, CMI-B, or relevant credentials is a plus.
- Experience working with property tax software systems is preferred.
- Proven track record of building effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong ethics and integrity in handling confidential tax information.
- Ability to adapt to changing tax laws and regulatory requirements.
