    Job Title: Director of People Operations Department: People Operations

    Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Effective Date: March 25, 2024

    Hours of Work: 40 hours per week FLSA Classification: Exempt

    Job Summary

    Plans, leads, directs, develops, and coordinates the policies, activities, and staff of the People Operations department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • People Operations Staff

    Essential Functions

    • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
    • Serves as a member of the Executive Management Team.
    • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's people operations compliance and strategy needs.
    • Administers or oversees the administration of people operations programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; corrective action matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
    • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
    • Conducts orientation for all new hires.
    • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resources information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
    • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modified policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
    • Develops and implements departmental budget and metrics.
    • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff and staff supervisors.
    • Prepares for and participates in Board of Director meetings.
    • Serves as a member of the Operations Committee.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
    • Ability to travel to the office daily, or as required by the supervisor.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • Five or more years of human resources management experience required.
    • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP required.
    • Strong knowledge of HR legal and regulatory legislation and requirements.
    • Experience in healthcare organizations preferred.
    • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission Standards preferred.
    • Experience working with a Board of Directors preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to use a computer as required. Must be able to communicate with others in an understandable manner. Must be able to operate standard office equipment. Work is primarily sedentary but must be able to move through the building to access office equipment. May need to occasionally move light equipment. Regular attendance at work is a requirement of this position. Able to travel within the five-county catchment area and to conferences/training as required.
