Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs per physician's instructions in a hospital or healthcare facility setting. Consults with medical staff about potential drug interactions, patient medical history, and the use of particular medications. Being a Pharmacist responds to questions from patients about medications and dosage instructions. Ensures that all required pharmacy data is recorded and maintained and complies with all regulatory, security and hospital procedures. Additionally, Pharmacist may supervise pharmacy technicians. Requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.). Typically reports to a manager. Requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Pharmacist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Role: Pharmacist
    Location: 133 Old Rd to 9 Acre Corner, Concord, MA 01742
    Contract Duration: 13 weeks contract with the possibility of a continuous extension.
    This position is 7 days on, 7 days off.
    Work Schedule: 70 hours a week.
    Shift: 9:00p - 7:30a
    Pay Rate Traveler: $86/hour (TRAVELERS WILL BE PROVIDED STIPENDS)
    Pay Rate Local: $80/hour
    • Holiday are worked if they fall in designated week
    • Weekly shifts start on Wednesday evenings
    • There is no on call
    Minimum Qualifications:
    Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited college/university with a B.S. in Pharmacy or a Pharm.D. degree is required.
    Experience:
    • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
    • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency desirable
    • Licensure and/or Certification:
    • Active licensed Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or eligible for reciprocity) is required
    • BLS required
    • Board Certification is desirable
       
    Job Functions:
    1. Reviews and verifies all medication order for completeness and therapeutic appropriateness.
    2. Provides medication information and consults with physicians and nurses regarding appropriate medication therapy.
    3. Performs clinical functions of the department.
    4. Documents all clinical interventions and completes all necessary shift hand offs.
    5. Dispenses medication according to departmental policy and follows all applicable laws and regulations.
    6. Manages workload and resolves operational problems arising during the shift.
    7. Compounds sterile hazardous and non-hazardous and non-sterile hazardous and non-hazardous preparations according to departmental policies with adherence to USP 795/797/800 and departmental policies.
    8. Supervises approximately one to three pharmacy technicians.
    9. Completes all operational tasks as assigned to the overnight shift.
    10. Completes all required hospital and departmental competencies.
    11. Participates in all department efforts to improve the medication use system.
    12. Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
    13. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
