Job Summary:
Our staff pharmacists are responsible for interpreting and evaluating provider orders for safe, rational, and cost effective drug therapy for patients at Bartlett Regional Hospital. Pharmacists are responsible for the accuracy of drug dispensing, monitoring of drug therapy, communicating with providers involved in the care of patients, participating in assuring adherence to BRH drug use policy, and providing pharmacotherapy education and information for physicians, nurses, and patients. The pharmacist is also responsible for clinical projects and participates in committee work as assigned.
What You Will Do:
Prospectively reviews and verifies provider orders by computerized provider order entry.
Verifies and assures accurate distribution, preparation, and labeling of pharmaceuticals including sterile compounded preparations and chemotherapies prepared by pharmacy technicians.
Audits and maintains accurate records for all controlled substances, and assures that medications are stored and dispensed in compliance with Federal, State, and Departmental regulations..
Performs clinical duties including monitoring and dosing medications to optimize patient care as defined by Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee directives.
Work as part of the interdisciplinary clinical team.
Provides education and information concerning safe and effective use of medications to pharmacist colleagues, other healthcare providers, caregivers, patients, and family.
Develop and participate in new employee training and education programs.
Provides oversight, direction, and mentors technicians to develop their skills and assumes responsibility for their work performance.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
Education: Pharmacy Degree (Bachelor's or PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy practice or completion of a pharmacy practice residency in a hospital setting is preferred.
Certification(s): State of Alaska Pharmacist License in good standing
Please note: In lieu of fringe benefits, casual employees receive a $2 an hour casual differential in addition to their hourly base rate of pay. Casual employees will not be scheduled to work a full time schedule for more than four (4) consecutive months or more than 780 hours annually. Casual employees must work a minimum of one (1) shift within a 90 day period to maintain status and employment.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
