Pharmacist Manager manages a group of pharmacists who, under the direction of a physician, compound and dispense prescribed drugs in a retail or healthcare facility environment. Oversees daily pharmacy operations. Being a Pharmacist Manager monitors and audits drug inventory, ensures compliance with all regulatory guidelines and reporting. Requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a Pharm.D. Additionally, Pharmacist Manager requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Pharmacist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Pharmacist Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • The Pharmacist is responsible for planning and managing 340B pharmacy operations and dispensing medications following prescriptions issued by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, or other authorized prescribers.

    Main Areas of Responsibility:

    • Ensure Inventory Control
    • Oversees the Prescriptions Assistance Program
    • Ensures the 340B Pharmacy is compliant with federal and state regulations
    • Training any Pharmacy Clerks or Technicians
    • Ensure Medication Compliance
    • Risk Management
    • Provide consultation to patients as needed
    Responsibilities:

    • Manage pharmacy, maintain inventory, and dispense prescription medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
    • Assess the identity, strength and purity of medications.
    • Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
    • Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage.
    • Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
    • Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling properly.
    • Maintain hard copy and electronic records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, inventories, and drug recalls.
    • Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitory, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics as well as the formulary.
    • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing packaging, and labelling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
    • Communicate relevant information to the medical, dental, pharmacy teams and COO to maintain continuity of care
    • Assist with the training and orientation of new intake personnel
    • Promotes smooth interactions with other departments and fosters good interdepartmental relations                                                            
    • Consistently acts as a customer service representative of the organization and offers on-going training to the intake staff to ensure quality of service

    • Serves as the primary internal and external program coordinator and liaison for all 340b matters
    • Serves as the institutional "compliance expert or authority" on 340b regarding program details, policies, and procedures of the virtual inventory processes required for mix-use areas
    • Serves as primary internal liaison to key stakeholders to help ensure appropriate utilization of the 340B Program and compliance with all program requirements
    • Provides expertise with the 340B Program to staff and participants regarding ongoing compliance
    • Actively engages with senior leadership and participates in decision making processes related to 340B processes
    • Develops and maintains internal relationships (accounting, legal, national) and external relationships (wholesalers, manufacturers, split-billing software vendors, employee benefits managers (PBMs), and third-party administrator vendors) as needed
    • Monitors and assesses 340B guidance and/or rule changes. Attends regular 340B trainings and shares lessons with administration and staff
    • Ensures that the 340B pharmacy is continuously compliant with federal regulations, HRSA/OPA rules, Medicaid changes, etc.                                                            
    • Ensures that the current list of medications, and details about the available medications, are regularly updated and distributed to the medical and dental staff
    • Develops, executes, and documents self-audits on the 340B process. Coordinated and ensures remediation of findings
    • Responsible for managing and troubleshooting pharmacy billing issues and ensuring that adequate systems checks are reviewed to prevent billing issues
    • Responsible for day-to-day management of the pharmacy, compliance review, operations of the pharmacy
    • Maintains a current state of "audit readiness"
    • Provides oversight for all audits performed by independent external auditors
    • Assess opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
    • Establishes consistent policies and procedures for 340B that ensure productivity and efficiency so that the long-term management of the program does not hamper operations or create unnecessary costs

    Essential:
    • PharmD degree and current Oklahoma Pharmacist license.

    • Courteous, professional disposition and ability to interact effectively with a variety of people is critical.
    Desirable:
    • Previous experience working in a 340B Pharmacy
    Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone.  Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.  Must have strength sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a patient and perform CPR.  Must have sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas.
