The Pharmacy Buyer ensures adequate levels of drugs and supplies are available in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies and that purchases do not exceed budget. Liaisons between buyers and manufacturer's representatives to ensure that the organization purchases pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment that meet quality standards while minimizing costs. Being a Pharmacy Buyer requires certification as a pharmacy technician and licensure from the State Board of Pharmacy. Requires a high school diploma. In addition, Pharmacy Buyer typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Years of experience may be unspecified. Position Description:- Has prepared IV infusions in both hazardous and non-hazardous environments.
- Has utilized closed system transfer devices (CSTD’s) during all hazardous medication preparation or is willing to learn.
- Properly disposes of all hazardous waste generated during the compounding process.
- Assists in cleaning all controlled environments within the pharmacy area per daily, weekly, and monthly requirements.
- Appropriately utilizes personal protective equipment.
- Performs independently with respect to all essential technician duties and responsibilities.
- Maintains focus on medication safety, documents medication errors.
- Maintains the quality control standards of the clean room(s) in accordance with USP regulations.
- Assists with the restocking of pharmaceutical products in all areas of the hospital including the automated dispensing machines.
Requirements:- 1 years’ of recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- ME Pharmacy Technician license without prior action
- PTCB certification, preferred
