Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist the Pharmacy Technician II can perform all the duties of a Technician I, (prepares, counts, labels, packages, and dispenses pharmaceuticals for Pharmacists? approval), and assumes responsibilities involving receiving, entering, processing, and maintaining orders in the computer system.
Pharmacy Technician II will perform data entry of new and refill prescription orders prescription orders. The Pharmacy Technician II will achieve the highest degree of accuracy possible while maintaining acceptable production quotas as determined by experience and company policy. This is accomplished while striving for data entry department to achieve the company?s goals of superior customer service and reimbursement for goods and services.
In addition, pharmacy technician II may flex between dispensing and data entry activities as workload and priorities change throughout the course of their shift.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Capable of performing all job responsibilities detailed in the Pharmacy Technician I job description.
- Monitors incoming order queues and inputs incoming orders into pharmacy computer in a timely manner.
- Calculates and/or verifies the correct dosage based on the prescription.
- Enters new and refill orders and discontinues orders according to client specific criteria.
- Performs data entry of credits when applicable.
- Admit new residents into computer.
- Understands all dispensing systems used in the pharmacy and their implications for data entry.
- Maintains knowledge of all pharmacy labeling requirements.
- Provides research via computer as necessary to track prescription orders.
- Completes ?Refill Too Soon? procedures, as needed.
- Courteously assists all customers, internal and external. Assists in answering telephones and provides excellent customer service on the phone.
- Quickly understands and analyzes customer needs. Takes ownership of any follow-up work necessary to service customers.
- Keeps workplace clean and well organized; maintains a neat, clean and organized workstation at all times.
- Accepts any task legitimately requested to meet the needs of the customer or to ensure an orderly operation. Cross-operations and cross-departmental activity is routinely expected.
