We're looking for the best and brightest to take our Creative department to the next level. If you have passion and expertise (we’re looking for entry level, no expertise is needed) in product photography, ideally toys or gifts but other consumer products would be acceptable; we would like to talk with you.
Rhode Island Novelty is seeking a Product Photographer to create high-impact selling images for both our national print catalog, the rapidly evolving website and social media. This person will create images that accurately portray the look and feel of our Company including the authenticity, utility and value of the product line.
The qualified candidate will be a part of the Art Department and reports to the Catalog Production Specialist.
A majority of the role involves shooting, editing, retouching, resizing, renaming, and organizing product shots. If you're an upbeat Photographer that likes to get hands-on with product, enjoys a fast-paced work environment, and is extremely organized, this is an ideal job for you.
This is an In Studio position. Telecommuting is not an option.
Position Summary
The Photographer is responsible for creating visually appealing and meaningful images that depict the Toys/Gift’s function, features, textures and finishes. In this role, the Photographer must be able to perform all functions in a highly-collaborative team environment while in the studio.
Assets created will be used over multiple platforms (print, digital, social, and video), as well as external media needs. The Photographer must problem-solve the best, most efficient way to execute shoots under limiting circumstances and short lead times.
Specific Responsibilities
· Develop and manage daily workflow for the digital photography studio to deliver the best photographic representation of the company's products across multiple digital platforms
· Actively organize our current and past digital images
· Produce high volume, high quality product shots that show Rhode Island Novelty products in fun, inspiring, and informative ways.
· Shoot images that show real detail of products
· Arrange objects, scenes, lighting and background to adhere to specifications
· Photograph, edit, retouch, and color correct product images for placement on our website, publications, email campaigns, annual and quarterly catalogs, brochures, advertising, and more.
· Communicate project progress and potential challenges to the Catalog Production Specialist on a timely basis.
· Work with product designers and creative team to ensure that key product details are being captured
· Organize and maintain an online photo library with disciplined naming conventions
· Other duties as assigned.
A summarized list of daily tasks would be:
Task #1. Assisting with photography:
· Recording what items (new and reshoots) have been photographed
· Photograph products and packaging in a timely manner, capturing all appropriate imagery (multiple angles, group/assortment, light-up shots, hand shots, model...)
Task #2. Assisting with coding (naming) and editing images:
· Coding new and existing images
· Edit images (cropping, altering, cleaning up product and packaging from any dust, scratches, or the like)
Task # 3. Assisting with image management
· Upload/manage new and existing images across multiple libraries for catalog and website use
· Keep libraries organized and up to date
Experience
· Some product photography experience required.
· Toys and Gift experience a plus
· Portfolio of relevant work
Required Skills
· Must know how to use a DSLR camera/flash photography
· Must be fluent in Adobe Photoshop (cropping, levels, pen tool, touch-up skills)
· Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
· A perfectionist eye for detail and color accuracy.
· Skilled and passionate about product photography and editing.
· Accustomed to working in an environment requiring multi-tasking
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Schedule, plan, and manage shoots based on an understanding of the department’s prioritization needs.
· Proven project management skills of multiple small & large-scale projects

Required education:
· BFA in Photography or related creative field
