Physician Assistant - Medical assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Medical orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Medical requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice.     Summary of Job Duties:The Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant will assist surgeon with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures, care coordination of patients, work as an independent care provider within the clinic. answer in-basket, MyChart and patient questions and work in collaboration with the physician to facilitate patients assigned with MD. The APRN will be responsible for managing care of outpatients post-operatively, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions. The APRN must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients.Qualifications:
    Minimum Qualifications

    APRN:

    • Master's Degree in nursing,
    • Acute Care Certification

    • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas

    • APRN License
    • PA Licensure

    PA:

    • Masters Education
    • Three years of nursing experience
    • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN License

    Special knowledge, abilities, and skills:

    • Must be able to operate all standard nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
    • Must have normal communication sensory requirements
    • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Augmentation - The APN will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
    • Consummate Professional - The APN will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).
    • Collaborator - The APN will work autonomously and collaborate with various individuals to diagnose and manage patients' healthcare problems; and will serve as a healthcare resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
    • Coordination - The APRN will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, and assuring that care is timely and appropriate. Other duties may be assigned to this position.

    • Customer Service: Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.5% The APRN will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
