Physician Assistant - Surgical under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Being a Physician Assistant - Surgical orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Additionally, Physician Assistant - Surgical requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Physician Assistant - Surgical's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pre-Surgical Team!
This position will be on call one weekend every five weeks!
As a provider for our Pre-Surgical department, you will function as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. You will use your clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
In this role you will use the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care. You will make an assessment of a patient’s health status, make a diagnosis, develop a treatment plan, implement a plan that is consistent with the appropriate plan of care, follow up and evaluate the patient’s status, educate patient and/or patient’s family, provide continuity of competent care, and you will support research that supports evidence based practice specific to your patient population focus, as well as in the areas of pharmacology, disease prevention, epidemiology, medical technology and more.
