What We Are Looking For
The HR Generalist will work as a member of the HR team, responsible for providing a wide range of HR and Safety support and services to both employees and management. This role involves handling various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits questions, compliance, and HR administration to the assigned business units. The Generalist is also the lead on DOT compliance, employee recognition, and training management.
We are seeking a talented and self-starting HR professional seeking employment in a fast-paced work environment with a variety of responsibilities.
What You Will Do
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding. compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Prescreens applicants and schedules interviews.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Manage and coordinate HR-related project activity resulting from business unit acquisitions.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and managers.
- Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Creation and publication of internal communications and company news.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR files, records and documentation; including transitioning of paper files to digital HRIS.
- Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system; information may include employee hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
- Track DOT compliance to ensure proper maintenance and implementation of driver requirements per current FMCSA regulations.
- Maintain FMCSA records and reports required by Federal, State and local regulations, driver qualification files and other appropriate records for all FMCSA regulated employees.
- Maintain DOT Physical records.
- Coordinate with Occupational Health facility to administer FMCSA DOT Random program.
- Maintain Contractor Compliance system.

What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, PHR preferred
- 3 years of human resources experience
- Strategic, critical problem solver who isn’t afraid to get into the weeds; a real passion for working as a team
- Ability to build effective work relationships at all levels, influence behavior, and lead change
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- High degree of integrity and honesty; ability to exercise confidentiality and neutrality in complex and unique situations
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership capabilities
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business situations, comfortable working in high growth, fast-paced environment
- Effective listener and communicator able to influence actions and outcomes
- An ability to roll with the punches is definitely a plus, and sometimes a sense of humor is key!
