Physician - Hematology/Oncology examines and diagnoses disorders and diseases of the blood, bone marrow, vascular and immune system. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Being a Physician - Hematology/Oncology recommends and orders tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Hematology/Oncology requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Diagnosis and treatment of patients in his/her specialty area; collaboration and supervision of nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants; participation in planning and developing health care services in his/her specialties, treatment of conditions and illnesses within the scope of the physician’s specialty, referral and follow-up of patients when indicated. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards.
