    Job Summary

    Improving the quality of medical care and diagnosis through the application, testing, and maintenance of radiology imaging equipment. Review radiology sites and equipment for compliance with federal and state regulations. Implement and monitor quality improvement projects for each site and modality. Work on the continual pursuit of compliance with accreditation for applicable facilities. Characterize and understand new imaging technology and provide support for staff, administrators and medical professionals throughout all aspects of the imaging chain. Must specialize in radiation therapy, diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, or some combination thereof. Perform quality control of imaging to ensure radiation dose and image quality are appropriate. Identifies problems within radiology and designs projects with aims to answer the problem. Works alongside medical physicists, radiology managers and supervisors, and radiologists to address and resolve issues within the imaging chain. Must have a good relationship with all radiology departments to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. Assess/calibrate diagnostic monitors and diagnose any issues. Ability to multitask projects, issues, and needs of all radiology departments. Must have effective communication skills between vendors and biomedical engineers. Has attained practical clinical medical physics knowledge through specific training under the supervision of a Qualified Medical Physicist.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree is required.

    Depending on area of focus, education, experience and licensure differs.

    Minimum of three years’ experience in a high volume setting or experience with quality principles is required. Knowledge of quality control procedures and instruments used to measure quality; picture archiving and communication system (PACS), computers, and radiographic workflow techniques. Knowledge of American College of Radiology (ACR) and Joint Commission (TJC) requirements desired. Demonstrated leadership and/or teaching experience is preferred.

    Radiology:

    Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. If incumbent does not possess ARRT credentials, facilities may also consider registered Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.

    Cardiology:

    Completion of a degree in health care or business related field required. Education program completion and clinical experience accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or must have graduated from a school or college of nursing.

    All Areas:

    If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
