This is a great opportunity to expand your nursing skills to become a Forensic Nurse as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE).
Responsibilities:
Takes a medical history and account of the assault from the patient. Assesses the patient’s condition and performs physical examination.
Collects and preserves all evidence, collects relevant specimens, and documents findings.
Provides direct nursing care of injuries and prophylactic medications. Refers to appropriate personnel/facility for further treatment as necessary.
Communicates with surviviors and their families regarding evidence collection, treatment recommendations and reporting to law enforcement (except in cases of mandated reporting) in a manner that promotes informed decisions. Provides expert testimony when needed in court trials.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
This is a on-call position, paid per case fee ranging from $175-$450 per case; Minimum 72 hours per month; Must be available for a combination of daytime, evening and weekend shifts each month.
Minimum requirements: Current NM RN license & live within 1 hour of Farmington, NM. Must be available to attend a virtual 40-hr training in March 2023. Additional clinical preceptorship is also required.
