Plant Controller establishes and maintains the plant's financial principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Oversees the maintenance of fiscal records and preparation of financial reports. Job Description
Fruge Seafood Company is seeking a controller to manage all financial reporting, tracking and metrics. Responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements and calculating sales tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with GAAP, QuickBooks enterprise, cash reconciliation, balance sheet entries, month end close procedures, accounts payable, account receivable and excel. This role will interact with all departments within the Fruge family of companies. This role will be responsible for providing accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity, and cash flows of the firm, while ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Responsibilities:
· Manage financial transactions
· Publish financial statements on time
· Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
· Compute sales taxes and prepare sales tax returns
· Cross train and be a backup for A/P and A/R functions
· Produce daily and weekly summary reports that showcase company performance
· Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
· Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
· Audit financial transactions and documents
· Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
· Comply with financial policies and regulations
· Review financials, quarterly and monthly financial reports for completeness.
· Monthly and/or quarterly financial variance analyses – budget and prior year
· Insurance audits for; Workman’s Compensation, General Liability, etc.
· Bank Audits as needed for banking needs and cash reconciliation
· Run Data and create reports for Sales Commissioned employees monthly
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
· Proficiency in QuickBooks enterprise and other ERP systems
· Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
· CPA certification would be a plus
· Knowledge of and passion for the food and hospitality industries – seafood expertise a significant plus.
· Detail-oriented, organized, able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment, and able to relate to others in a courteous manner.
· A strong sense of urgency to both internal and external requests is necessary to be successful
· Experience in use of ERP systems, Excel, and other relevant analytics tools. Experience with ASPEN CANOPY is a plus.
· Excel experience and above average understanding is necessary
· Excellent oral and written communication, with a proven ability to build consensus and alignment.
· Strong customer service skills and high level of personal accountability and responsiveness.
