Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     About this Role: We are seeking highly dedicated and experienced Plant Superintendent to oversee and manage on-site activities for construction projects. Plant Superintendents play a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and with the specified level of quality.     Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities: Plant Superintendents are responsible for supervising the field construction of projects, ensuring they are completed in line with the contract and quality specifications.

    Essential Functions:

    • Providing leadership and maintaining positive working relationships with on-site staff, including the management of various crews.
    • Thoroughly understanding project contracts, specifications, design details, and addenda.
    • Reviewing project documents for design issues, impractical details, and potential code violations, reporting them to the Project Manager.
    • Assisting in developing and updating the project schedule.
    • Planning and reviewing project scope, including quality control, safety practices, temporary utilities, equipment, and manpower.
    • Coordinating, directing, monitoring, and inspecting the activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and labor.
    • Ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are obtained.
    • Cooperating with inspection agencies and implementing necessary actions based on their reports.
    • Managing and documenting equipment rentals within the project budget.
    • Recording and reporting the percentage of work completed each month.
    • Documenting all Requests for Information (RFI), Changes of Scope, and more.
    • Reviewing and approving daily reports, as-built prints, and invoices.
    • Maintaining good relations and communication with all project stakeholders, including the public.

    Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

    • Reviewing invoices to ensure accuracy.
    • Working with the Project Manager and Project Administrator on billing.
    • Overseeing the site crew's adherence to safety protocols and holding weekly safety meetings.
    • Collaborating with the Safety Manager on all aspects of project safety.
    • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, plans, and redlines, grading, and equipment operation.
    • Strong organization and communication skills.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED (preferred).
    • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in underground utilities/facilities work. A minimum of 3 years of foreman experience in the underground utility sector.
    • Certifications/Licenses:
      • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements (OSHA 30 certification required)
      • Valid CPR/AED certificate.
      • Valid driver's license.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position typically involves standard business hours, it may frequently require flexibility, including long hours, weekend work, night work, overtime and remaining on-call.

    Physical Demands: The job involves various physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, using fingers, talking, listening, and maintaining visual awareness.

    Work Environment: The work environment involves an equal balance of indoor and outdoor settings. There may be potential exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for periods exceeding one hour. Workers may experience distracting or uncomfortable noise levels and vibrations affecting the body or extremities. There is a risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts and electricity. Additionally, there's a possibility of exposure to fumes, odors, or other substances that may impact respiration and skin.
