Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     Brief Description:

    The Plant Manager must oversee the production team with performing diversified duties during vehicle production according to safety. In this position the Plant Manager will be responsible for the technical acumen and ability to provide results under a predetermined timeline. An ideal candidate is a team-orientated self-starter who is knowledgeable in mechanical functions in a production atmosphere. This position requires critical thinking, implementation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast pace environment.  

    Requirements


    • Identify, analyze, and develop solution to production process.
    • Oversee duties to install, build, and maintain multiple components of vehicles. 
    • Read and support content within all service manuals to perform required production functions. 
    • Supervise regular preventive maintenance on equipment and plant facilities.  
    • Collaboratively work with supporting members of the engineering team.  
    • Document production progress and communicate with upper management.
    • Develop and maintain standardized manufacturing instructions used in production.   
    • Develop training programs for production team to educate and improve processes.
    • Manage, motivate, support production team by providing guidance to production staff. 
    • Communicating regularly with leadership regarding problems or issues impacting production. 
    • Evaluate production resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.  
    • Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduce costs of manufacturing operations. 
    • Set productivity goals for department and a breakdown for individual teams.  
    • Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality. 
    • Ensure adequate staffing and efficient scheduling. 
    • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. 
    • Meet requirements of the state and federal law for automobile repair and consumer protection. 
    • Develop process improvements within production. 
    • Position will require more than 40 hour work weeks depending on company needs.  

    Requirements and Core Competencies:

    •  Bachelor’s degree preferred.  
    •  5 years of operations management and/or equivalent experience.  
    •  Proficiency within Microsoft Windows and Google Suite applications. 
    •  3 years automotive supply chain knowledge. 
    •  Experience creating and maintaining product specifications. 
    •  EV knowledgeable preferred. 
    •  Knowledge in hand and air tools. 
    •  Strong organizational skills.   
    •  Ability to travel as needed.  

    Physical Requirements:

    •   Considerable physical activity. 
    •  Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed. 
    •  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  
    •  Must be able to lift at minimum 25 pounds at a time.

    Working Environment:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving  mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
    • Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.  
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully  perform the essential functions of this job.  
    • Work is normally performed in a warehouse work environment. Other environments may include: interior office space, outdoors, vehicles.
