Sawmill Plant Manager

Springfield Hardwoods, an integrated hardwood lumber production company located just outside of Grove City, PA is seeking a Sawmill Plant Manager. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for all sawmill operations, with an emphasis on coordination of daily operations, quality control, maintenance uptime, strategic planning, employee development and training, safety, and adherence to regulations and company policy. Candidate should have extensive experience and technical knowledge of hardwood lumber production and grading, as well as sawmill operations.

Sawmill Plant Manager Responsibilities

• Schedule and oversee manufacture of lumber in conjunction with Sales team.
• Collaborate with procurement, administration, and transportation managers to achieve improved production, shipping, and financial objectives.
• Train other managers and employees on safety practices throughout the operation in accordance with OSHA and all other federal, state, and local regulations.
• Be accountable for Profit and Loss performance of Sawmill operations. Be cognizant of overall Company financial objectives above production based KPIs.
• Manage Sawmill upgrade and improvement projects including planning and timeline objectives.
• Ensure leaders in individual mills, grading, maintenance, and loading operations are accountable to their goals and responsibilities.
• Participate with senior management in long term planning for ROI maximization, including budgeting, production and inventory planning, and capital expenditures.
• Increase employee engagement through reviews, training, daily feedback, and team building activities. Ensure employee concerns are addressed promptly.
• Support maintenance staff to increase uptime and control repair expenses.
• Work with other leads and managers to foster cross training and contingency plans by assessing and developing talent within all aspects of the operation.
• Develop a continuous improvement program to routinely remove identified safety, quality, and efficiency gaps.

Sawmill Manager Qualifications

• 5 years of related management work experience desired
• 4 years degree preferred, but not required
• Proven ability to respectfully manage a diverse workforce
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

Sawmill Manager Pay and Benefits

• Competitive Pay $85k - $135k

Pay: $85,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
