Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operational activities of a plant or production facility. Develops and manages production schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Operations Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Additionally, Plant Operations Manager oversees staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff and facilitates labor relations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Operations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    The Plant Manager is responsible for leadership, management, and performance of Sanmina’s Plastics Production facility located in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin.  The associated duties include, but are not limited to: supporting operation’s overall business strategy by providing leadership and direction to the operations of the facility; building a strong, leadership-oriented Production Team; ensuring the facility provides outstanding products and services to its customers  through high quality, competitive costs, and on-time delivery; helping to drive the continuous improvement of processes and the implementation of new technologies; developing organizational strength and robustness; and ensuring facility operation in compliance with Company policies and all laws. This person will play a key role in obtaining planned results and helping to maximize the long-term value delivered from the facility.  He/she must be a change-agent and team player, who can work closely with the team to introduce contemporary operational practices to the facility and help create high performance work teams.  The Plant Manager needs to be a metrics-based person, who can ensure the implementation of solid systems and processes.  He/she also needs to be a leader, who can communicate the need for cultural change to a proud, workforce and motivate action and results.  The workforce needs passion and a sense-of-urgency, as well as the commitment to reach its potential.  The Plant Manager will be a key driver and will have a significant impact on the company’s competitive position and financial performance.  

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

    • Reporting to the VP/GM Precision Plastics and Medical Disposables, the Plant Manager also works closely with the local team to develop an operations strategy.  This multi-year strategy should embrace the concepts, principles, and philosophies of Lean Manufacturing.

    • Develops a high performance, leadership-oriented Production Team.

    • Provides a high level of leadership and management sufficient to motivate, develop, and guide the organization to achieving operational goals and objectives. 

    • Directs operations to ensure compliance with prescribed quality, cost, delivery, and other performance standards.  Obtains planned results.  

    • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction and effective customer relations.

    OTHER JOB DUTIES

    • Fosters an operations environment that provides a safe and environmentally responsible facility.

    • Maintains plant property and equipment in good condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and to ensure effective and economical operations.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment.

    • Minimum of 5 years of Injection molding experience

    • Strong knowledge of quality systems, tools, and procedures ISO 9001, 13485, 14001 and ITAR 

    • Excellent understanding and the ability to manage capital and expense budgets. 

    • Proven ability to solve complex problems and lead teams to solve complex problems.

    • Personal computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft applications.

    • Undergraduate degree in a business/manufacturing related field (e.g. finance, engineering, business).
