Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates workers' activities in all phases of plant operations. Develops and manages production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Superintendent utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals. Troubleshoots operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Plant Superintendent implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     YOU

    You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. As a Plant Superintendent, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the Production department. This position is directly responsible for driving improvements in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost of all manufacturing operations within our Automatic Stamping, Manual Fabrication, and Shearbrace value streams. Overall scope of the position is to medium to long term planning.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

    Coach, motivate and lead employees/supervisors using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility, expect accountability, and gain regular feedback.Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. Works with leaders to develop succession plan within each department. Create, implement and monitor staffing plans to support forecasted demand. (40%)

    Develop and execute Strategic & Tactical strategies to drive operations and improvements with Lean Manufracruting throughout the manufacruting departments while collaborating with Plant Leadership Team by identifying and executing large scale improvement projects. Work to develop and implement plans & activities that will assist the organization in achieving annual cost savings targets and customer service levels. (40%)

    Provides Project Management support and team leadership for site, Home Office, Capital Acquistions (Capex) and Continuous Improvement projects. (10%)

    Works closely with Inventory control team to ensure Medium to long term production plans supports future customer needs and resolving critical needs/ exceptions as they arise.(10%)

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • BS or BA in Operations Management or Operations Manufacturing or Engineering, or Business Management, preferred
    • 10 years in Lean manufacturing environment, required
    • 5 Years in lean based management approach with related experience and/or training in process management, required
    • 5 years managing a staff of 50 , required
    • 3 Years Project Management, preferred
    • SAP, or similar ERP system experience,preferred
    • Mathmatical Reasoning: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, preferred

    Pay

    $96,100 - $163,400 / year
