Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance
• Ability to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions
• Ability to work at heights from a ladder, scaffolding, or mechanical lift
• Mastery of journeyman level skills in the use of tools, materials, and equipment of the plumbing trade
• Ability to read and interpret the Standard Plumbing Code
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and manuals
• At least three (3) years of progressive responsibility as a plumber
• Ability to troubleshoot, determine causes of routine malfunctions, and take necessary corrective measures
• Ability to clear sewer lines through the use of industrial snake equipment
• Completion of a technical program related to the plumbing trade at a vocational school, college, military training or apprenticeship. * Preferred

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Observes all safe work practices when using tools, equipment and chemicals.
2. Works effectively with, cooperates with, and supports other employees.
3. Uses district electronic work order system to perform work orders with minimal supervision.
4. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains district owned plumbing tools and equipment.
5. Provides advice and recommendations to supervisor regarding preferred repair materials and carried inventory.
6. Advises Maintenance Manager if a work order or repair should be performed by outside contractors based on scope of work, materials required, or personal experience.
7. Repairs and maintains all pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in a safe and working condition.
8. Examines plumbing equipment and fixtures at all facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance.
9. Understands and adheres to standard plumbing codes, federal, state, and local rules and regulations regarding safety codes, plumbing installation and maintenance.
10. Maintains a supply of generally used parts and materials in the school board vehicle.
11. Assists supervisor with training of new employees.
12. Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
